Stage I |
Ok, so now for stage 1, I got the looks, now I need some sound. A stang has to have two big ass pipes coming out the back...and sound mean! I researched several kits and researching a custom job. Unfortunately where I live, custom jobs are really expensive, and this was before I met Excessive Motorsports. So I went the road of pre-made kits. It was good for a start, initially I was looking at JBA, MAC and Magnaflow kits. Flowmaster 40's were just too loud and I wanted to go with a system that had a good reputation. After listening to various sound clips, I decided on the Magnaflow Dual Exhaust Y Pipe kit for the 05 V6 stang. Details as follows:

So, how did she sound, well take a look at the following video clip, I am pretty pleased and expect her to sound way better with a true dual system:
Once I have some pictures of her clean I will get them up. Right now with all the snow she's a bit dirty! So now that she look and sounded good, it was time to give the ol girl some more oomph! I performed a ton of research, and after reading Afixer's posts on the AFE, I was sold on it. So I knew that would be the unit, and in my shopping for it...I found a combo deal from rpmoutlet with a tuner. It came bundled with a Diablo Predator, for $450. I immediately jumped on it thinking I would be fine, and I could find a local shop that would work with the Diablo's. So I bought it and installed it immediately with a 93 octane canned tune. I definitely noticed a gain with the stock 93 performance tune and the AFE, but I knew my gains could be more. So following my next round of mod's, I knew I would need to get a professional tune done to maximize air flow for my CAI and exhaust.
Going on a test drive I can definitely feel the car pulling harder in the higher RPM's. The AFE was definitely worth it, and the Magnaflows definitely sound good to me...however the Diablo on the 05 V6 still remains to be seen, at least for my auto.
